There are a few schools of thought on old cars. One one side you have keep the patina and "restore to 100% original" and on the other "make sensible improvement"s to make the car more comfortable and suitable for modern driving. Everyone has their opinion, I think that the latter takes a a lot more experience, thought and skill. I sit on the more original side, what I lack in skill I make up for with enthusiasm. Geoff on the other hand has both the wisdom and skills to make sensible improvements. His Series 2A, is a testament to that. It is a beautiful balance between preservation and modernisation.
Some of the upgrades that he has made include:
200 tdi motor
Discovery 5 speed gearbox
Power Steering
Disk Brakes
Range Rover Diffs
Parabolic Springs
Alfa Romeo seats
Air conditioning and heating
Defender 130 rims
It is a beautiful car. He still has a bit of work to do including installing a new wiring loom and hooking up all of the electrics. Hopefully it will be back cruising the highways again soon.
