Diff and axles



This has been one of the most satisfying jobs so far. The axles, particularly the front swivels are are caked in a combination of 50 years of dirt and oil leaks, which coats everything with a thick clay like goo.

The good news is that it looks like the car has been loved in the past, with fresh grease on all the bearing, clean oil in the diff, minimal wear on the shafts and almost no backlash or wear on the differential. The car is not fitted with free wheeling hubs so the back and front are in similar condition. The plan of action is to clean up everything, fix a small dent on the rear diff housing, replace all of the bearings and seals and give it a fresh lick of paint.
